If I command the wind to rise with the point of my sword, they burst into the air and sway like the tendrils of a spider lily
Though it is stained with mud, my heart is a silk brocade1
May my ambition rise high and with grace, and become my honor
Rejoice in the brilliance, the elegance of a dream-filled night; I shall make the springtime of my life bloom in splendor
If life is short, then I shall give it all of my strength
We actors have gathered, so turn your gaze to us!
There is such goodness in glory! Yet I must not be led astray
Like the surface of the cleared waters, the marsh lilies straighten their backs
The devotion which I have committed myself to lives in my heart
My self-discipline shall continue; pity is but a futile emotion for youth
Rejoice in the brilliance, may my dreams bloom in abundance! I shall paint this ephemeral world bright with the splendor of my youth
With passion and vigor, until I meet my noble end,
I shall press onward with all my might; that is my way of life!
I shall show my crimson pride eloquently in my dance
Right now, I am in full bloom!
Rejoice in the brilliance, the elegance of a dream-filled night; I shall make the springtime of my life bloom into splendor
If life is short, then I shall give it all of my strength
We actors have gathered; so turn your gaze to us!
Rejoice in the brilliance, may my dreams bloom in abundance! I shall paint this ephemeral world bright with the splendor of my youth
With passion and vigor, until I meet my noble end,
I shall press onward with all my might; that is my way of life!
So turn your gaze to me!
TL Notes:
1: A brocade is a rich fabric with an intricate pattern— Souma is trying to say that although his heart is stained, it is still as beautiful as an elaborate silk fabric to the average eye.
